Adam's Fall in the Quran:-
As usual with the Quran's version of the stories that it plagiarises from the Bible, the one about the of the creation leading to Adam's 'Fall' is devoid of any background in Time or Space and is utterly insipid unlike the vivid and captivating original in the Torah.
Genesis 2: "7 Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying: 'Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.'
Genesis 3 "1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman: 'Yea, hath God said: Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?'
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves girdles.
11 And He said: 'Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?'
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman: 'What is this thou hast done?' And the woman said: 'The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.'
17 And unto Adam He said: 'Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying: Thou shalt not eat of it; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.'
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubim, and the flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way to the tree of life.
*** It is obvious that God EVICTED Adam and his wife OUT of the Garden of Eden on EARTH to toil and sweat to earn his livelihood ***
Amongst Muslim writers, the FALL is called Dthallatu Adam, or the fall or slip of Adam. The term Dthallah, or "a slip" or "error", being applied to prophets, but not Thamb,
" a sin", which they say prophets do not commit.
The following is the account of Adam's "slip", as given in the Quran-
2:35 "And we said, 'O Adam! Dwell thee and they wife in the Garden [Janna] , and eat ye plentifully therefrom wherever ye list; but to this tree come not nigh, lest ye become of the transgressors.'
36 "But Satan made them slip [fa azallahuma] from it, and caused their banishment from the place in which they were. And we said, 'Get ye down [ahbittou] , the one of you an enemy to the others and there shall be for you in the earth a dwelling-place, and a provision for a time.'"
7:19 'And, O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in Paradise [Janna] and eat ye whence ye will, but to this tree approach not, lest ye become of the unjust doers."
20 "Then Satan whispered them to show them their nakedness, which had been hidden from them both. And he said, 'This tree hath your Lord forbidden you, only lest ye should become angels, or lest ye should become immortals."
21."And be aware to them both. 'Verily I am unto you one who counselleth aright.'
22 "So he beguiled them by deceits and when they had tasted of the tree, their nakedness appeared to them, and they began to sew together upon themselves the leaves of the garden. And their Lord called to them 'Did I not forbid you this tree, and did I not say to you, "Verily, Satan is your declared enemy?"
23 "They said, 'O our Lord! With ourselves have we dealt unjustly; if tho forgive us not and have pity on us, we shall surely be of those who perish."
24 He said, 'Get ye down [ahbittou] , the one of you an enemy to the other; and on earth shall be your dwelling, and your provision for a season."
25."He said, 'On it shall ye live, and on it shall ye die, and from it shall ye be taken forth.'"
20:115 "And of old We made a covenant with Adam; but he forgot it; and we found no firmness of purpose in him. .
116."And when We said to the angels, 'Fall down and worship Adam,' they worshiped all save Iblis, who refused;
117 and We said, 'O Adam! This truly is a for to thee and to thy wife. Let him not therefore drive you out of the garden, and ye become wretched." .
118."For to thee is it granted that thou shalt not hunger therein, neither shalt thou be naked."
119 "And the thou shalt not thirst therein, neither shalt thou parch with heat."
120 "But Satan whispered him: said he, 'O Adam! Shall I show thee the
tree of Eternity [Shajarati^l Khuldi] , and the Kingdom that faileth not?" .
121."And they both ate thereof, and their nakedness appeared to them, and they began to sew of the leaves of the Garden [Janna] to cover them, and Adam disobeyed his Lord and went astray." .
122."Afterwards his Lord chose him for himself, and was turned towards him, and guided him."
123 He said: "Get ye down [ahbita] both of you all together (from the Garden) with enmity one to another; but if as is sure there comes to you guidance from Me whosoever follows My guidance will not lose his way nor fall into misery.
*** As usual, the Quranic version of the Biblical story is totally at variance with the original.
Since the Torah is described in the Quran to be the Word of Allah, then how is it possible that the Quran's version is diametrically opposite and incredibly different?
The Muhammadan commentators are much perplexed as to the scene of the fall of Adam. In the Bible, Adam and Eve were 'cast out' from the Garden of Eden [on Earth]; they were NOT thrown down from anywhere [Heaven to Earth].
After all, the rivers that encompassed the Garden of Eden are earthly rivers such as the Euphrates and Tigris.
From the text of the Quran it is very clear that the Paradise spoken of and envisioned is in heaven and not on earth. To substantiate this, there is a tradition, that when Adam was cast forth he fell on the island of Ceylon, would support this view.
Al-Baizawi says that some say, that the Garden of Eden was situated either in the country of the Philistines or in Faris, and that Adam was cast out of it and sent in the direction of Hindustan.
But this view he rejects, and maintains that the Garden of Eden was in the heavens, and that the fall occurred before Adam and Eve inhabited this earth of ours.
The Muhammadan exegetes are otherwise silent as to the effects of Adam's fall upon the human race.
